Located just to the east of State Highway 37 in southern Lawrence County.   You are within easy driving distance from Louisville, Kentucky or Indianapolis, Indiana.   Mitchell has played a role in the development of the area by being the crossroads of rail traffic north/south and east/west.   It has been the home of notable historic figures like Virgil “Gus” Grissom.   Since those early days, Mitchell has maintained its friendly small town atmosphere where visitors are always welcome.
